Alina Hiltunen

Alina Hiltunen was born in Finland and started playing the violin at the age of five. She held
her first solo recital at the age of 13. Before starting her studies at the Royal Academy of Music she studied
music education at the North Karelia University of Applied Sciences with Dr. Tapani Yrjola. Summers 2006 and
2007 Alina attended to the International Music Festival in Chautauqua, New York State, where her teacher was the
previous concertmaster of Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Jacques Israelievitch. Alina has attended to many Master
Classes in Finland, the USA and London, including professors such as Charles Castleman, Peter Vinograd, Almita
Vamos and Malfred Hansen. In 2003-2007 she was the concertmaster of Joensuu conservatory & North Carelia
University of Applied Sciences symphony orchestra. In that time she also played as a soloist with
the orchestra. Alina has played in
many chamber music groups, and worked as a professional violinist with the Joensuu City Orchestra in Finland.
She has also worked as a violin teacher in Joensuu Conservatory.
In the fall 2009 Alina started her postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music in
London with Diana Cummings and Erich Gruenberg.
