Founded in 2008 by lead violinist, Nazrin Rashidova, FeMusa is a professional string orchestra of talented female international musicians, the first of its kind in Britain since the 1950's.
Featured on BBC World News, Euronews and London Live, FeMusa have enthralled audiences with their powerful performances in London, Oman, Paris and Azerbaijan. In 2009, FeMusa gave an acclaimed conductorless performance of Fikret Amirov's Nizami Symphony, previously performed in the UK in 1965, under the baton of Gennady Rozhdestvensky. Their sold-out concerts abroad have comprised eclectic programmes and in 2012, they were invited to perform on 'Omani Women's Day in the Royal Opera House Muscat, Oman. Their London concerts at St John's Smith Square, Westminster Cathedral Hall and St James’s Piccadilly have featured international renowned artists including British mezzo Louise Winter, flautist Ines Abdel Daim and tar player, Arslan Novrasli. FeMusa is the dedicatee of the renowned English composer, Paul Lewis' work titled "Three Valentines" for violin, strings and piano/harp. With origins in many countries, FeMusa's musicians are developing multicultural aspects alongside more traditional western repertoire, performing rare or lesser-known works. |
